Kwohtations is a greeting card and gift line based in Brooklyn, NY. We create products that capture the shared ups, downs, and complexities of life. In other words, our products are inspired by life experiences that many of us share but aren’t always openly discussed.

I believe that vulnerability is a strength, and often draw from my own personal experiences when creating art. Our themes often revolve around celebrating chosen families and non-traditional milestones, addressing mental health challenges, and navigating grief and loss.

Kwohtations is proudly an Asian and woman-owned business, and we design with inclusivity as a core component of everything we make. Through creating honest, affirming, and humorous goods, our hope is that Kwohtations products always elicit a smile of recognition and help others feel more seen.

 

OUR PROCESS

I letterpress print every card one-at-a-time on an antique printing press.

Letterpress is a relief-printing technique, in which raised type or images are inked and then pressed into paper, creating a debossed impression. Each piece of paper is carefully hand-fed one at a time into the printing press, to create a unique piece of artwork. I enjoy the physical process and distinctive final look-and-feel that comes with using old printing machines and techniques, while experimenting with modern images and sentiments. I print with custom polymer plates in order to print digital designs using an antique press.

Leading with Vulnerability: Our products are inspired by shared life experiences that we don't always talk about or see in the card aisle, e.g. navigating grief & loss, embracing chosen families, and celebrating non-traditional life milestones.

 
Celebrating Diversity: As an Asian- and woman-owned business, we proudly offer a range of cards that represent different skin colors, genders, and sexual orientations.

Creating with Intention: I letterpress print each card on an antique printing press, and then hand paint any colors. 

Healing through Humor: Humor is critical to savoring the good times and surviving the hard. My hope is that Kwohtations products elicit a smile (or laugh!) of recognition, and help others feel more seen.
